Human Global Development
Reflections July 25, 2011jsc

I completed my doctoral studies (Who Is) in the philosophy and the psychology of human development at Pennsylvania State University's College of Human Development in 1982. Partly by choice and partly by fate my professional and personal paths brought me face to face with human global development that is unfolding before our eyes.

What is this phenomenon come to birth? Earth Citizens. What does that mean? When I am as concerned about the killing going on Syria as I am the killing that takes place next door, I am living earth citizen consciousness.  (Singularity Is Near) Great good things are possible at with this level of human development. And, great horrors.

Educators have a duty to prepare humans to live according to the practices of civility in an ever more-globalized humanity. We are an ever more-interdependent and more-interconnected species, whether we like it or not. Change even positive change is hard... we have to let go. We must remember Einstein foresaw the possibility of World War IV fought with sticks and stones ... that we could drive ourselves off that cliff and into that possibility is before our eyes. What future do we humans develop and grow into, what wolf do we feed (Law or war)? There is so much at stake!

The virtual content herein is a story, a blueprint, a painting in the sky, a mirror for students to learn about themselves as earth citizens. The philosophical foundations, the structural integrity, the consistency of goals and objectives of the meme End War Forever becomes the framework for deep personal reflections and self-discovery.

There is only one question each of us must answer to pass this course, and it is the same question no matter what level of education we have achieved: "What kind of global citizen do I want to be?" A clearly articulated, logically sound, reason-based, historically documented discussion of the vectors at play in our time would be articulated in a satisfactory answer, as well as what solutions the student would apply.

Students will be challenged in a thesis, antithesis, and synthesis approach to (Hegel) the matter of law and war and the future of humanity. What future we the humanity of globe Earth will create or not, it is a matter of applied global human will or not - likewise a globalized humanity mobilized for peace can make the next step in global law happen. Peace, as is war, is a choice.

When every global citizen can vote on any matter of global government, based on a democratic one-person one-vote system of political discourse honestly counted, almost instantaneously a participatory global human democracy becomes possible. And with that global peace through global justice is possible. The Age of War got humanity this far, next stop in human development, the Age of Peace.

Global human development's biggest question for the 21st century is: Do we narrowly avoid or do we have to go through World War III before taking the next step to global legal development?

As of 2011, war is winning. (World War III)
