Thank you for your interest in The Age of Peace. Your interest suggests that you think of yourself as a globally-minded person. And now you will get a chance to greet and meet others who share your interest. Your participation does have the secondary benefit of enabling you to meet people who think and feel like you at least on this one topic, and that is great. But our primary purpose for congregating is to build what peace loving people agree makes sense: a world ruled more and more by law, and less and less by war. Given the alternative of a World of Nations before or after World War III we are voting to urge its creation "before". If we fail, at least history can record we tried.
We are afraid for the future, but we need not fear failure. We live in times when the footprints leading to World War III are growing bigger and bigger, but there also footprints on “The Road Less Travelled”, a path not as clearly defined perhaps, but surely leading to a far better future. Which path humanity chooses now, at the beginning of the 21st century is not yet preordained. If we continue on our present course there will come a time when the cries of the innocent pleading for justice, but with justice not forthcoming will tip humanity's outrage into the hell of war. But the prospect of justice forthcoming would calm the waters, for humanity could then take a collective breath as reason and dialogue in the name of Love take the place of irrationality and demonizing in the name of war.
Your first task as global citizen is to take a look how you might contribute. We see the goal, but as in the case of Kennedy's challenge to the moon, trusting we too can have faith that to get there we would have to build yet unseen machines of power as to escape the gravity of Mother Earth. To soar into Father Heaven, we too can have faith that we can build what is needed to take our species on its next positive step in human development and escape the terror of war. Such a humanity united by the experience of global consciousness, a felt sense that we are more than clan, tribe, religion, territory, or nation, but from the knowledge that each of us is a citizen of the globe-planet earth in our known universe. As an aside, it is quite reasonable to assume somewhere out there are many sisters to planet earth. But coming back down to earth and the here and now, what do we need to do next to make our dream come true? We are society of equals bar nothing, including gender and sexual orientation. One person, one vote. When the majority decides, all equally commit to the will of the majority. We trust the collective will of an electorate faithfully and honestly debating the issues in the name of Love will determine what is best for humankind.
